The New President

I woke up this morning and quickly turned on the computer to see that Barack Obama has won the election for President. I have to saw I was surprised, I think that most if not all polls had Obama ahead. I personally didn't vote, the process to do this is difficult and requires me to go to Tallinn to vote and with a 4 hour round trip and 3 kids, it just didn't make sense.

If there was one thing that really gripped me tonight was a shot of Jesse Jackson crying and overcome with emotion. Now I am not a Jesse Jackson fan, or supporter, but this guy saw Martin Luther King murdered, then he tried to run as president, but now can watch the first black president. I just think it has to be very sweet day for him and many other minorities that feel like they finally have "one of their own" in the White House.

The only concern I have is now, how will Christians and conservatives respond to Obama. I hope that we will pray and respect Obama as our president. I hope that we could be an example to the Liberal left on how to disagree but maintain respect for a political figure. President Bush was often treated very poorly, and I hope that we can do this correct and help take opposition out of the toilet and bring it some dignity. I also hope that Obama can bring some change, like to health care, because everyone deserves the opportunity to go to the hospital and not have to declare bankruptcy at the same time. I hope education can improve. I hope the economics will get better and I hope that value of the dollar continues to rise. My greatest hope is that Jesus will be alive in Obamas heart and He will lead him.
